Zurich and Lucerne, Switzerland

Because John was too lazy (despite being unemployed at the time...) to organise anything special to celebrate our anniversary in May, MC decided we were going away for a romantic weekend to mark 7.5 happy years in November. Unfortunately John decided to get sick (man-flu?) a few days before we left so there was more sniffling and sneezing than romance but we still had a nice time!

We spent one night in Zurich (where we happened to see the All Whites making it through to the World Cup on the hotel TV) and then one night in Lucerne.

Lake Lucerne.
An impressive carving of a lion in the rock in Lucerne. It commemorates the Swiss Guards who were massacred in 1792 during the French Revolution.
The Reuss River and Chapel Bridge in Lucerne.
Little castle in the mountains we spotted during the gondola ride back down to Lucerne from Mt Pilatus.
The gondola and Lucerne below it.
Nice scenery.
Working the self-portrait mode on the new camera! On top of Mt Pilatus.
View from the top of Mt Pilatus.
The Old Town in Lucerne.

Many of the buildings in Lucerne's Old Town are decorated like this with pretty artwork on the exterior walls.
Lake Zurich.
John in the welcome lakeside sunshine in Zurich.

The Grossmunster in Zurich.
MC unleashing her inner witch with a random broomstick.
View of Zurich from up a hill.
Pretty Zurich streets.

Luckily there was only one airport in Zurich so we managed to catch our flight this time and had a very smooth trip with no disasters!
Our next trip is to Germany (Dresden and Leipzig) this weekend for some festive Christmas market action!
