Arches National Park, Utah

Driving west from Colorado we arrived in Moab, south-eastern Utah. |This region is home to soaring snow-blanketed peaks towering over plunging red-rock river canyons and crazy rock formations. Using Moab as a base we were able to explore three Parks showcasing this amazing scenery. The first was Arches National Park, which encompasses more sandstone arches (surprise surprise!) than anywhere else in the world. If you're not a fan of weird rock formations you might want to skip this entry!

Water, ice, extreme temperatures and underground salt movement are responsible for the sculpted rock scenery of Arches.
The longest arch in the park is Landscape Arch, measuring 306 feet base to base.
