First stop in Arizona was the North Rim of the Grand Canyon - only 10% of all visitors go there (most only see the South Rim) so it was very quiet - unfortunately it was also very overcast.
John at Bright Angel Point.
MC and a rainbow on Roosevelt Point Trail.
John pointing out the magnificent scenery at Angels Window! The Colorado river carving its way through the canyon. Luckily the clouds only came down to rim-level.
John's a little teapot.
It's only 10 miles across the canyon to the South Rim, but a 5 hour drive thanks to there being no bridges.
First stop was the Visitor Center where John managed to lock the keys in the car. After an hour of scavenging through trash cans he found a suitable bit of fencing wire and maoried the door open, thankfully saving an expensive AAA callout and the cold shoulder from MC!
More canyon views, this time from the South Rim.
A rattlesnake we encountered on the trail.
After the Grand Canyon we explored a bit of Route 66 in small-town Arizona, staying a night in nearby Flagstaff before heading on to Sedona.

Frankfurters on a stick eh?
You needed a few marshmallows to go with it.
The pictures look great and the mountain in mist could be in a calendar.
Getting a bit colder where you are now too, by the look of it.
See you will be in Las Vegas by the time you read this!!!
Mum and Dad
we did have marshmallows, also cooked on a twig. and mostly covered in charcoal after they kept falling into the fire...
yep it has been getting a bit colder and we had some frosts in the national parks - waking up to the tent covered in ice a few times!
in vegas now and don't worry - although we have seen plenty of wedding chapels we have not been in one!
